The topic of the next and final seminar of the year has a similar value. The university is offering a closer look into J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world of the Harry Potter series Saturday, with English professor John Wenke, to explore how the author has taken millions of people away with her writing, and become the first billion-dollar author.
“I think Harry Potter is literature and at the same time a popular phenomenon,” Wenke said. “We’re dealing with something that is really crucial to the culture we’re living in. (The books) have a kind of magic that is absorbing.”
