Hildebrandt Bros. art going on auction Oct. 27

If you’re a fan of the artwork of brothers Greg and Tim Hildebrandt, you’ll have a chance to buy two of their original pieces of art on October 27. The cover paintings for J.R.R. Tolkien: Architect of Middle-earth (by Greg Hildebrandt) and Dragonbards (by Tim Hildebrandt) will be sold off by Heritage Fine Art Galleries.

Although the Brothers Hildebrandt have long been associated with covers for books by J.R.R. Tolkien and about Middle-earth, not all Tolkien fans really liked their style. They went in for a pseudo-realism that was kind of off-putting and yet which was very eye-catching, quite intriguing. Their acrylic-like style was almost like a photograph from an alternate reality. The style is quite distinctive.

You can view the Greg Hildebrandt listing and Tim Hildebrandt listing on their site at least until the auction. I cannot guarantee the listings will be available afterwards.
