Fans of actor Craig Horner are organizing a January 24, 2012 2-hour tweetathon to wish Craig Horner, former star of Legend of the Seeker, a happy birthday.
Just wanted to drop a quick word about a couple of topics.
First, I want to remind people that tomorrow (November 20, 2011) marks the second Legend of the Seeker Tweetathon, scheduled for 12 Noon to 2 PM Pacific (Los Angeles) time. Please check my Save the Seeker blog for more details and links to forums where you can catch up with other LOTS fans.
A long-anticipated video featuring the “Hey there, Seeker” song by Aleyna Dennis has now been published on YouTube. The LOTS Video team worked hard to integrate 15-second segments submitted by fans across the world to produce this 7-1/2 minute video showing why fans want to Save The Seeker.
I contributed a segment and was very pleasantly surprised to see a link credit to savetheseeker.wordpress.com at the end. Thank you, LOTS Video Team!
And I guess I now get to appear in this blog’s “SciFi Videos” category. Never thought that would happen ….
American Legend of the Seeker fans received some happy news today: Craig Horner is moving to Los Angeles and apparently just flew over last night, according to fellow actor Gabriel Mann (who played the young Zeddicus on the show).
Fans are starting to talk about organizing Legend of the Seeker and Sword of Truth initiatives for science fiction conventions. There will be a Seeker fan consuite at Dragon*Con 2010, for example.
If you want to get involved with promoting Legend of the Seeker and/or the Sword of Truth books at your local convention, then head over to LOTS.org’s Seeker Convention Circuit discussion. I’ll help promote these convention activities through the Xenite.Org network (which includes this blog).
The Save Our Seeker ad campaign has purchased a month-long bus stop ad near the ABC offices in Burbank, CA.
I’m asking fans to create TIME cover mockups with Craig Horner and Cosmopolitan cover mockups with Bridget Regan.
You can see many of the fan covers already done in this SF-Fandom discussion for Craig and this SF-Fandom discussion for Bridget.
Some naysayers are trying to discourage people from participating in this initiative. I’m asking people to make the effort because it’s different, it makes a statement, and it really can create visibility for the Save Our Seeker campaign.
Also, the International Seeker Fan Video Project has published a teaser video.
They promise to get the main video up soon and are already discussing more ideas. You can follow their LOTS Video account at YouTube rather than wait for updates here.
First, here is the video of Bridget Regan’s interview on Attack of the Show. Notice when she starts to say “But …” after being asked if the Seeker will return and she is interrupted. What was the “but …” all about?
Well, thank GOD there was a Seeker fan or two in the audience. This_Years_Girl wrote an extensive set report about the show and she included the following:
SO THEN, after her interview, before they even CUT TO COMMERCIALS, B comes right over to us. And Kevin is like hey Bridget this is Heidi, and they say hi. And then she turns to me and I’m like *awkward pause awkward pause AWKWA-* “Hi, I’m Rachel!” and she’s like “Hi, I’m Bridget!” And I’m just like *guhhh…knowsthis* and she shakes my hand and her hands are pretty and soft (I realize I’m not coming across as particularly heterosexual at the moment but idec cuz it’s B). And then she asks us if we’re fans of the show and it’s like hmm YA I THINK SO. And she talks to us about how the show cost more money last season but maybe we could hope for a movie or something AND GUYS THIS MEANS WE NEED TO FIGHT FOR A SEEKER MOVIE FOR B NAO!!! And I was like “Pssh, you guys should just shoot it somewhere else if the currency exchange is weird. Richard and Kahlan could suddenly appear on a subway in NYC and I promise you no one would complain.” And she laughed and I died.
So, there you have it! Nothing conclusive, but who knows? Maybe a movie is in the works.
I, for one, hope so.
Let’s Save the Seeker. Get on over to the Save The Seeker blog and show your support for the show!
UPDATE: A design was selected and the ad will run in Variety on Friday as planned.
Sorry for the time-sensitive announcement but I’ve been asked to help spread the word about voting on the advertisement to be placed in Variety for the Save The Seeker campaign. The ad design team is hoping to get the ad published on Friday, May 7.
You’ll need to visit this page to learn more about how to vote for your favorite ad design.
Please help spread the word as quickly as you can. Link to http://community.livejournal.com/legendofseeker/569736.html and not to this message.
